Multifunctional Enzymes in Microbial Secondary Metabolic Processes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Microorganisms possess a strong capacity for secondary metabolite synthesis, which is represented by tightly controlled networks. The absence of any enzymes leads to change in the original metabolic pathway, with decrease or even elimination synthetic product, not permissible under conditions normal life activities microorganisms. In order improve efficiency metabolism, organisms have evolved multifunctional (MFEs) that can catalyze two more kinds reactions via multiple active sites. However, instead interfering, catalytic properties MFEs facilitate biosynthetic process. Among numerous considered vital importance living are synthases involved assembling backbone compounds using different substrates and modifying confer final activity compounds. this paper, we review terms both post-modifying biosynthesis, focusing on polyketides, non-ribosomal peptides, terpenoids, wide range cytochrome P450s(CYP450s), provide an overview describe recent progress research MFEs.

Microbial processes have been extensively used in engineered systems, esp. wastewater treatment, in situ bioremediation and most recently for biofuel production. While excess biomass may be desirable in some processes, it is detrimental to other systems including Activated Sludge Process (ASP), biofilters and subsurface bioremediation schemes, where uncontrolled microbial growth leads to increa...
متن کاملProteases: multifunctional enzymes in life and disease.
Proteases likely arose at the earliest stages of protein evolution as simple destructive enzymes necessary for protein catabolism and the generation of amino acids in primitive organisms. For many years, studies on proteases focused on their original roles as blunt aggressors associated with protein demolition. However, the realization that, beyond these nonspecific degradative functions, prote...
متن کاملCysteinyl Cathepsins: Multifunctional Enzymes in Cardiovascular Disease
Until recently, the role of lysosomal cysteine protease cathepsins in intracellular protein degradation was believed to be mainly restricted to scavenging. However, recent studies have revealed nontraditional roles for cysteine protease cathepsins in the extracellular space during the development and progression of cardiovascular disease. Although the precise mechanisms are unknown, data from a...
